Parenting is a divine ecstasy. But there are circumstances when some people struggle to become a parent. That's when surrogacy acts as a helping hand. How does surrogacy help? Surrogacy is considered a helpful option for couples who can't conceive naturally. Surrogacy is a legal procedure where a woman agrees to become pregnant to provide a baby for a couple/person who can't naturally conceive.

There are various reasons why people opt for surrogacy options; some of the reasons are not being able to conceive traditionally - infertility, the age barrier, single people, same-sex couples, health problems, etc.

Even in surrogacy there are two types of surrogacy.

1) Traditional surrogacy - In this surrogacy, a woman gets artificially inseminated with the father's sperm. It is an artificially or naturally inseminated technique using sperm from the biological father or donor. Then the baby is delivered and handed over to the legal parents. In this procedure, usually, the surrogate mothers use their eggs and are artificially inseminated using sperm from the donor or the biological father.

2) Gestational surrogacy - In this type of surrogacy, the surrogate mothers are not biologically attached to the babies because eggs are used from the egg donors, and sperm are used from the sperm donor to make an embryo. Gestational surrogacy is the only type of surrogacy that is permitted/legal in India.
