In contested divorce cases, the case can be extended to three to five years due to the challenges and complications during the trials. And based on that, the decision will be taken by the court. 

How much does a divorce cost in India? 

The court fee is nominal at Rs 15, but the lawyers can charge a minimal to a hefty amount. The price range for lawyers may vary from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 lakh depending on the duration of the case and type of divorce. Nonetheless, women can avail themselves of free legal services by getting an advocate from the legal aid service.
